The restorative justice guide to this Directive is available here.

This new Directive 2012/29/EU of the European Parliament and of the Council of Europe is part of a legislative package which aims at strengthening the rights of victims in the EU and which also includes the following two other elements: a communication on strengthening victims' rights in the EU and a proposal for a Regulation on mutual recognition of protection measures in civil matters. The Directive is replacing the Council Framework Decision 2001/220/JHA on the standing of victims in criminal proceedings, and sets out minimum rights for victims.
