October 19th, 2022
The RJ4All Rotherhithe Community Centre, 30 Plough Way, London SE16 2LJ

Delivering teaching methods & eco practices through art and education for adult learners

In partnership with London Challenge Poverty Week

Background to the event and Challenging London Poverty Week 2022

As part of our Erasmus-funded RADIAL project, we are pleased to be holding this event during London Challenge Poverty Week. RADIAL aims to challenge poverty through the empowerment of marginalised groups using the power of recycled art and restorative justice. RJ4All has a long history of developing tools for integration and healing using Gavrielides' concept of restorative justice art.

This year, London Challenge Poverty Week 2022 (LCPW) will take place from Monday 17th October, the UN Day for the Eradication of Poverty, through to Sunday 23rd October. Throughout this week and the month of October, Londoners will have the chance to take part in a wealth of activities and campaigns that raise awareness of the reality of the experience of poverty in our city, while simultaneously celebrating the work and innovative measures that are being taken to challenge it, allowing for an opportunity to exchange strategies and strengthen our response.

How can you get involved with Teaching Green?

Here at RJ4All, we are using LCPW to expose and challenge poverty, while creating a positive narrative that demonstrates an insight into our community-based approach to tackling the exclusion experienced by some members of the community.

In particular, "Disadvantaged Learners" include migrants, refugees and minorities who lack inclusion into UK social benefits. Reducing their exclusion is not only a basic human right to dignity and respect, but will also allow for a more representative, diverse and stronger workforce.

If you believe you can make a change for London's poverty, then join us on the 19th October 2022 for our event: Teaching Green, where will visit the themes of the human challenge of poverty, alongside the environmental challenges that society must also confront.

How can you get involved with #EatYourPumpkin?

With great thanks to a partnership with Hubbub, we are delighted to announce the parallel workshop  "Eat Your Pumpkin", centred on the worrying fact that " 14.5 million pumpkins are expected to be left uneaten this Halloween, in the UK alone!".

Expect a pumpkin and food-related workshop on the Slow Food Movement, featuring creative recipes for salvaging your pumpkins’ insides throughout day.

Additionally, please join us - kids included - from 3pm onwards for a fun afternoon filled with activities including pumpkin carving and a pumpkin treasure hunt for anyone who wants to take part!
