Restorative Justice In Educational Settings

Restorative Justice in Educational Settings and Policies:
Bridging the East and West

RJ4All is carrying out this project focusing on the implementation of restorative justice in educational settings, bringing together scholars from the East and West.
For at the heart of Restorative Justice lies empowerment and as Nelson Mandela once said:
"Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world".

Premise

The restorative justice literature is rich in its depiction of Western culture, practices, norms and theories. It is only recently that we started to explore its normative dimension and practical manifestation in the East. In fact, some have claimed that it is in ancient civilisations such as Persia, China, and Pakistan where the roots of restorative justice can be traced. One could say that from recent findings that, it is indeed rather arrogant to believe that the practice and ethos of restorative justice are exclusively Western developments.
