"I can confirm we have received the open letter from RJ4All and will ensure it is fed into the Southwark 2030 vision" (Southwark Council)
We are delighted to announce the first of this year's "Speak Up" events!
In the shadow of the COVID pandemic, followed by the cost-of-living crisis and countless day-to-day challenges, we want to be there for our local community, acknowledge the hardships faced, and provide the space for expression and the amplification of local voices.
Following the success for our former successful "Speak Up" Community Forums, we have made it our priority to implement these events on a regular basis throughout the year.
Whether you are a local resident, business owner, parent, councillor, young person, entrepreneur, is important for YOU to have your say about your local community and visions for Southwark... are you joining us?
*On arrival you will be asked to complete a registration form to take part in the focus group session. Please pop into the centre at any time if you have any questions or email admin@rj4all.org!
Tuesday 21st March 2023, from 3:30pm - 5:30pm
RJ4All Rotherhithe Community Centre
30 Plough Way, London SE16 2LJ
Please register via the link below!
Registration is free and freebies, snacks and refreshments will be provided.
(A nominal £1 fee is required to ensure that this booking is honoured and to be reinvested into our charitable services. If you feel that you cannot afford £1 please ask for a refund once you have arrived at the event and the RJ4All team will be happy to give it back to you.)
Our founder and director, Dr. Theo Gavrielides, will lead the discussion in a restorative justice circle.
The RJ4All team will facilitate the discussion, in the presence of local councillors and stakeholders who are keen to hear our local priorities and concerns, and alongside Southwark Council representatives who are seeking to capture shared community ambitions in
2023.
This event forms a part of our exciting vision of building the first restorative justice postcode.
Our goal is for local voices to be heard and included in decision making processes that they are impacted by. Through our holistic services (including a free and accessible gym, library, and warm space including workshops and referral schemes), and consultation workshops such as these, we want our community members get to experience a more equal distribution of local power.
This is because at our foundations as RJ4All, we believe that power abuse is the biggest silent driver of inequalities, human rights violations and community tensions.
We want to root out greed and disseminate power in a more equal way. And we believe we can do this starting locally from our own neighbourhood in South East London.
Facilitated in collaboration with the Southwark 2030 Team
