Mentoring - Training - Support

Here at RJ4All, we take volunteering seriously having been set up by volunteers. Since our inception, one of our key aims has been to increase cultural awareness especially amongst children and young people, breaking the barriers that lead to division and community tensions. Sharing power and increasing community cohesion are two of our charitable aims, which we believe can be achieved through social action including volunteering. 


RJ4All also holds community-led projects focusing on integration throughout London and internationally. Founded upon the FREDA values of Fairness, Respect, Equality, Dignity and Autonomy, RJ4All creates partnerships with local, national and international frontline, like minded organisations to instil and implement FREDA, while also leading on the evaluation and wider dissemination of project results.

Our Institute works with young people from all backgrounds, but our focus is on those with fewer opportunities. Through our user-led programmes, every year we engage with hundreds of marginalised and vulnerable individuals including BAME groups, migrants, refugee and asylum seeking women, and victims of crime. 

RJ4All holds the Quality Label for the European Commission's European Solidarity Corps (ESC) volunteering programme

ENSURING OUR VOLUNTEERS HAVE ACCESS TO THE RESOURCES THEY NEED AND THAT OUT-OF-POCKET EXPENSES ARE ALWAYS COVERED

Once a volunteer/ intern is recruited, we assign an RJ4All mentor. A clear plan will also be drawn that explains the personal support that they will receive, matching their needs based on their entry questionnaire. For example, we will identify online language courses and link them with our own online courses depending on their circumstances.

We have developed an array of e-courses and face to face programmes, which are bespoke and accredited. We will also direct them to SALTO and other Erasmus and EC online courses as well as training opportunities from the British Council and other providers such as our local CVS, LVSC and others. 

RJ4All has a Public Liability, Volunteers/ Employer and Trustees Indemnity Insurance that covers all our interns and volunteers. When travel from the UK is involved, we engage our Traveling Policy ensuring that anyone who represents us is protected and covered by insurance. Our institute has a strict Safeguarding Policy and a Designed Safeguarding Officer who has been trained in order to deal with any safeguarding issues that might arise. We follow best practice such as the one provided by the UK Safe Network and the UK government Department of Education.

We have clear Role Descriptions and Volunteer Agreements that outline our offer, mutual responsibilities and expectations. This is a bilateral agreement between RJ4All and our volunteers that is then supported through an induction and a volunteering mobility handbook that we have put together with the support of experts. Regarding travel costs and arrangements, a detailed guide and expenses levels are included in our Volunteer Policy and Memorandum. 

COVID 19
In order to continue activities while ensuring the safety of young people, youth leaders and volunteers through COVID-19 and its aftermath, we have adopted the guidelines established by the UK National Youth Agency (download here) This document is intended to support the youth sector’s response as lockdown rules change. It is recognised that the level of lockdown will vary over time and potentially by location therefore at RJ4All we ensure regular updates thorough our safeguarding officer.

RJ4ALL BOARD

It meets quartely to scrutinise RJ4ALL's projects, make recommendations and monitor their delivery


As a user-led organisation, all our youth projects are scrutinised and quality controlled by our standing Youth Scrutiny Panel.

QUANTITATIVE SURVEYS

These are carried out annually with the young people involved and a representative sample of beneficiary organizations and at the end of the project 

ENTRY AND EXIT QUESTIONNAIRE

Structured questionnaires to ensure that (a) needs are identified from the outset (b) progress is monitored (c) positive outcomes are identified (d) learning for the volunteer and the organisation is captured (e) action points in relation to commitments and performance are completed.
