RJ4All's Community Food Hub

Building community resilience and confidence through food education

Funded by Hubbub

To relieve poverty and create community cohesion through food and nutrition education.

This food education project complements our successful and oversubscribed Community Community Fridge at the RJ4All Rotherhithe Community Centre which we operate in one of London's most deprived areas. Through our non-referral fridge and this food education education project, we hope to increase community resilience through an improvement in access to fresh ingredients, nutrition education, cultural connection through food, and service users’ confidence when cooking.

  • Provide cooking and nutrition education including sessions for the community which demonstrate how to use fresh ingredients, including those found in our free Community Fridge, in a simple, quick, and easy way.

  • Produce online videos related to cooking instruction, nutrition, and developing healthy eating habits. These videos will also highlight different cultures of our service users by showcasing the recipes attached to them.

  • Supply food education, including healthy food and snack options, to youth during our annual half-term Youth Clubs.

These three activities will provide unique opportunities for our local community to come together using food and nutrition as prompts.

This project is funded by Hubbub.

We provided healthy breakfast items from our Community Fridge and delicious ready-made lunch boxes which kept our youth energised throughout the day.
