What is the purpose of the project?

This research project aims to provide an evidence base for RJ4All’s vision and project of building the world’s first restorative justice postcode. Information on the project and its aims can be found https://www.rj4all.info/RJpostocode 

What is involved in participating?

You will be asked to participate in a Focus Group as part of the Speak Up! event series. This will last approximately 2 hour. We are interested in exploring your views and experiences on this topic.

Benefits and Risks 

There is no immediate benefit to you but it is hoped that the results of this work will inform future practices, legislation and policy in relation to measures that are being adopted to promote community cohesion, address antisocial behaviour and poverty. There is a risk that you may share some personal or confidential information by chance, or that you may feel uncomfortable talking about some of the topics. However, we do not wish for this to happen. You do not have to answer any question or take part in the focus group or interview if you feel the question(s) are too personal or if talking about them makes you uncomfortable.) You will not be provided any incentive to take part in the research. However, we don’t want you to be out of pocket as a result of your participation and will provide a small amount for your time, and travel expense (if applicable). 

Terms for withdrawal

You have a right to withdraw without prejudice and without providing a reason. 

Confidentiality

All the information that we collect about you during the course of the research will be kept strictly confidential. You will not be able to be identified or identifiable in any reports or publications. Everything you say will be treated as confidential, unless the researcher is worried that there is a risk of harm to you or another young person, in which case they will inform the appropriate authority. 

What will happen to the results of the research project?  

Results of the research will be shared and published. You will not be identified in any report or publication. If you wish to be given a copy of reports resulting from the research let us know.

Giving your consent

By signing this document I confirm that I agree to the following statements:  

• I have read and understood the project information sheet
• I have been given the opportunity to ask questions about the project
• I understand that my taking part is voluntary; I can withdraw from the study at any time and I will not be asked questions about why I no longer want to take part
• I understand my personal details such as phone number or address will not be revealed to people outside of this project
• I agree for the data I provided to be archived and made available to other researchers on request
• I understand that other researchers will have access to these data only if they agree to preserve the confidentiality of these data
• I understand that other researchers may use my words in publications, reports, web pages and other research outputs
• On this basis I am happy to participate in the RJ Postcode Project and give my consent to RJ4All to store my data for the purpose of data analysis. I am aware that my personal data will be destroyed no later than 2 years after the completion of the project and will be securely stored in accordance with the requirements of the General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) (Regulation (EU) 2016/679).
•  I understand that my words may be quoted in publications, reports, web pages, and other research outputs but my name will not be used unless I requested it 
• I agree to assign the copyright I hold in any materials related to this project to: Theo Gavrielides.
